Our trainees successfully participated in the IHK project and have now received their certificates for their digitalization concept.

In the future, goods dispatch at KTI will no longer require printers. This means no more paperwork, no more walking around, and easy traceability for everyone at all times. Julian and Felix demonstrated how this can be implemented in practice as part of an IHK project. Our trainees in the technology and support department have now received their awards from the IHK Ostwestfalen zu Bielefeld at the conclusion of DiGiZUBIS. “It was a great experience,” they both conclude positively. “Not only did we learn how to plan and manage a project from start to finish,” says Felix. “It was also exciting to see what the other teams were planning in their companies,” adds Julian.

Trainees digitize their company

The East Westphalia Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Bielefeld (IHK) launched the “DiGiZUBIS” project for the first time in fall 2022. We at KTI are very proud that our trainees were now involved in the third round of the project. A total of 34 trainees from nine companies took part in “DiGiZUBIS” and spent six months identifying and developing digitalization potential within their companies. The trainees are accompanied and supported by coaches from the IHK throughout the project. “We first learned the basics of project management,” says Felix, describing the start of the project with corresponding seminars last fall.

The trainees' task was then to identify and analyze potential areas for digitalization within the company. “We took a close look at all departments at KTI and spoke to the entire team about where they would like to see digitalization or where it is urgently needed,” Julian explains the process. “We compiled a whole list of suggestions.”

The second step involved developing concrete solutions. Felix and Julian focused on digitization in our goods dispatch department. With a clear goal, as Julian says: “Shipping without printers from now on.” Both developed a concept for document organization that is to be used at the interfaces between sales, logistics, and accounting. The two have now presented their project in the final round at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. We are delighted to now be implementing the concept they developed for KTI. And to increasingly operate without paper in the future!
